Event Description

Join us on December 3rd to talk about how we're going to use funds to further our Community Fire Resiliency Program, H.O.M.E. (Honoring Our Mountain Environment) Program, Community Education Programs, Medicine Lake Campaign and more. We'll have refreshments and light-bites to enjoy. We'll have a screen up to watch the contributions made to the entire #NorthState and to watch the Community Regional Foundation give-aways live! Stop by for any amount of time!

Contributions can be scheduled ahead of time or you can make them with us in person.

Giving Tuesday is an international day of giving created in response to Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the other spending days that arrive annually in late November-early December. North State Giving Tuesday is a local initiative to increase philanthropy in Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama counties. The effort is brought to you by Shasta Regional Community Foundation and Merchants Bank of Commerce. The 2019 #NorthStateGivingTuesday event will take place from 6 a.m. PST to 8 p.m. PST. For those 14 hours, online donations will be accepted through with a goal to inspire and unite our community in supporting many local nonprofits.

**Major thanks to the Messer's and ExperShare for allowing us to use the space!**

Solar energy breakthrough creates electricity from invisible light | The Independent

Two major breakthroughs in solar cell technology could vastly improve the way energy is harvested from the sun. The two studies, published in Nature Energy and Nature Photonics, will transform the efficiency and significantly reduce the cost of producing solar cells, scientists say. The first breakthrough involves “upconverting” low energy, non-visible light into high energy light in order to generate more electricity from the same amount of sunlight. Researchers at RMIT University and UNSW University in Australia and the University of Kentucky in the US discovered that oxygen could be used to transfer low energy light into molecules that can be converted into electricity.
