First weekend in a series of 6 weekend workshops through the winter and spring of 2012 and 2013 right here at the Jackson Wellsprings, 2253 Hwy 99 N Ashland, OR.
Permaculture offers powerful tools for the design of regenerative, fair ways to provide food, energy, shelter and other needs while learning to live in harmony with nature. Drawing on ecology, whole systems design and indigenous knowledge, the PDC presents an array of solutions tools and strategies for moving into a low carbon way of living sustainably on the only planet we have.
This is the primary permaculture course offered around the world with lots of local knowledge and applications. Participants learn to apply regenerative permaculture principals and patterns to design integrated homesteads, energy and water systems, animals, gardens, appropriate technology, forestry and healthy communities. This PDC is offered at Jackson Wellsprings and students will be working on a permaculture design for the Wellsprings property during the course. Lead instructor is Tom Ward with co-teachers Melanie Mindlin and Karen Taylor. Tom has taught dozens of permaculture design courses and advanced permaculture courses in Southern Oregon and Northern California over the last 30 years. He is the author of Greenward Ho! Herbal Home Remedies: An Ecological Approach to Sustainable Health. Tom advises local farms and has a social forestry project in the Little Applegate Valley where he is demonstrating natural building, fuel hazard materials utilization, multiple products woods-crafting, wildlife enhancement and desert forest water management. There will be 6 workshops in the series, Dec 8-9, Jan 12-13, March 2-3, March 23-24, and April 6-7. The course price is $650, with an early registration price of $575 if received by 11/11/12.
