Twenty Bailout Banks Cut Lending: Nationalization Considered

capitalbldg1-288 Although a main purpose of the Troubled Asset Relief Program was to increase bank lending, a new report casts doubt that recipients of TARP funds are following through. Compressed Air Car is Coming | Alternatives Magazine

For more than a century the automobile has been burning vast quantities of petroleum based fuel, polluting the air, creating greed and wars over oil. Electric cars have zero emissions where they are being driven, but coal, hydro or nuclear power plants produce the electricity on which they run and themselves cause pollution and problems for our planet. So, what’s the solution to gas guzzling, carbon emitting… Continue

Endangered Sea Turtles on Course to Lay 60 Million Eggs This Year | The Mind Unleashed

In India, along the coast of the eastern state Odisha, over 475,000 endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles have come ashore to a roughly 3.75-mile (6-km.) Rushikulya beach to dig their nests and lay eggs. However, restrictions in place due to the CoViD-19 threat has allowed for hundreds of thousands of endangered turtles to be protected from any human presence—especially the presence of tourists—resulting in what may be their most successful mass nesting in years.

With no end to the pandemic in sight, owners have now decided to remove the huge wooden and metal seats that are strapped to the jumbos’ backs throughout the day.

Amazon rainforest reaches point of no return | Climate News Network

Brazilian rainforest expert warns that increased deforestation under President Bolsonaro’s regime is having a catastrophic effect on climate.

Because both industries are private, and because there aren’t any laws on the books for cruise lines, there’s not much the city can do about it.
