Favorite Returns to Varsity Theatre to Benefit AIFF:
Fierce Light Continues Festival's Monthly Film Series
Two special showings of the popular 2009 AIFF documentary Fierce Light will continue the festival's Monthly Film Series Friday, May 1 at the Varsity Theatre at 6:00p and 8:20p. These screenings will benefit the non-profit ashland independent film festival and are made possible by Coming Attractions Theatres.
Canadian filmmaker Velcrow Ripper returned to the AIFF this year, after his 2005 AIFF hit ScaredSacred, with his latest inspiring documentary, Fierce Light. The festival theatres were packed to see this insightful look at the ris ing movement of "spiritual activism" and the dynamic personalities who are working to empower and transform themselves and their world. The film features Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh (pictured), Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Pulitzer Prize winning author Alice Walker and more.
Tickets are discounted 25% for AIFF members and available now at the Varsity Theatre Box Office. The screenings continue a monthly series of Southern Oregon premieres and encores of film festival favorites showing on selected Fridays through November at the Varsity.
