The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice --
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very…

Community meals like the ones served at Uncle Food's Diner in Ashland are the first line of aid to those in need. When one is homeless, the immediate concerns are food, shelter, clothing, bathrooms and a place to shower.
Recent articles in the Daily Tidings have elicited many "How can I help?" responses.
The following is a listing of first-line resources in…

President Obama has just signed a $790+ billion "stimulus" package for the economy, but do you really believe that will actually help our local economy (or just make government bigger, increase the debt and put more burden than ever on the rest of us)?
If you want to see where the money is being spent (your share of the $2,600 per capita increase in the federal debt) for the "Economic Stimulus Bill" read the following summary:

The Aquarian Alignment
Forty years ago, the words of a song called Aquarius, brought the dawning of the new age into our collective awareness:
“When the Moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars.
Then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars.
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius”
At dawn on 14th February 2009, the day dedicated to St Valentine, the patron saint of Love, the Moon in Libra enters the…

In Ashland there's a lot of chatter about whether the pushing innovative sustainability projects should be the business of government or private people and interests. The answer is 'yes.'
There are some intriguing possibilities waiting to be borne out there . Seems to me city government could provide the nudge it takes to turn ideas into reality, all for what's sometimes…

Although a main purpose of the
Troubled Asset Relief Program was to increase bank lending, a new report casts doubt that recipients of TARP funds are following through. The report
"is the latest sign that the bailout has done little to increase bank lending." According to the Washington Post,…
