Sunlight on the Water

Nature speaks to us in many ways. This morning I sat at the pool at the base of the waterfall and watched the sunlight dance upon the water. I watched as the particles and minerals within the water seemed to come alive in the rays of the sun. Then a series of images began playing in my mind.

In my mind’s eye, I saw people all over the world, individuals, carrying the light of love within their thoughts and hearts. As each person held a loving thought for the water, the water came… Continue

Last week I attended an evening lecture by two dynamic and brilliant women from the Institute for Noetic Sciences (IONS),… Continue

Tom Hulce Annual Award Dinner | Oregon Entreprenuer Network (OEN)

Rebels

Went to Portland last week for the "Annual Tom Hulce Award Dinner" where non-profits, individual entrepreneurs, developing, working and growth capital companies received recognition for their achievements. Over 900 people and dozens of companies attended.

After the event I got a good sense of the higher-end business, entrepreneurship and angel/venture/investment banking community in Oregon and the Portland area. Some of the companies… Continue

Protesting at the Democratic Convention in Denver Aug '08

It may be that the most radical thing we can do right now is to act from our vision, not our fear, and to believe in the possibility of its realization.

–Starhawk

From Denver, the mile high city:

I am amongst 140 wild women from all over the country, many of whom have been working tirelessly for years to promote peace, and to hold our "leaders" accountable, in DC and all over the country. Our style is playful and forceful, fancy and edgy. We are women supporting each… Continue

Tashi Choling: Center for Buddhist Studies

Buddha

This weekend while on retreat at a beautiful chalet on Mt. Ashland with spectacular views above the trees, my beloved Linda and I took a day trip to the Colestin valley to visit Tashi Choling.

Established in 1980 by the Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche who fled Tibet when the Chinese invaded in 1959. Of the 20,000 who left with him only 200 made it to India.

In Tibetan Buddhism there are four major schools and Gyatrul Rinpoche brought… Continue

"Unafraid" by Jeff Golden | Review

Unafraid

I went last night to the final performance of an oratory of Jeff Golden's new novel "Unafraid." 'Twas an engaging dialogue between prominent political characters of the late twentieth century, engaging the imagination of what's possible with great leadership, particular that of John and Robert Kennedy, had they survived the bullets.

"Unafraid will be pivotal for readers who care deeply about our country. Kudos for this compelling blend… Continue

Gaia University Comes to Town

A few days ago I attended an open house for Gaia University, a broad-based permaculture curriculum branching out like a mycelia network to develop small, local educational centers offering bachelors and masters programs accredited internationally, but not in the United States.

I was inspired by the young and old alike who shared, those who were curious in this unconventional method of education, an opportunity for developing your own… Continue

Jitterbug Perfume Review

Jitterbug Perfume

Tom Robbins, author of Jitterbug Perfume, is a master magician of words and visions, his stories running deep with a landscape of symbolism. In this novel the author weaves four stories ranging over a thousand years and culminating in contemporary times. Threads of immortality, scents of the soul, death, and perfumery are laced with humor and sexuality, making this book a deeply provacative masterpiece.

The story starts in 8th century… Continue
